"Carl built our dream masonry heater in our new log home. He was very professional and easy to work with as he designed our stove and sent us options. We stayed on budget and he was flexible with completion as we had some delays in building.

We are very happy with the finished product as the heater performs beautifully. It is the centerpiece of our home and will provide us a place to gather around on cool days for years to come. The radiant heat can be felt for up to 24hrs after a burn making this traditional heater much more practical than a modern massless woodstove which loses its warmth within hours.

Because of the thermal mass and multiple flue passes, this heater can burn hot making it a very low emission unit. We have no smoke coming from the stack within minutes of firing it. I highly recommend going with a masonry heater from Sidl Masonry Heating, you won't be disappointed!"

"After moving to Roberts Creek on the sunshine coast of British Columbia I was searching for a Kachelofen builder and found Carl Sidl from Sidl Masonry Heating in Courtenay and he together with his father Stefan built first our outdoors pizza oven and after that our Kachelofen.

My understanding is that all the material for building the Kachelofen are from Europe and Carl did a fantastic job and the outcome is as I exactly expected and my Kachelofen is the only one on the sunshine coast!

The craftsmanship was first class and the oven performs 100% and all our visitors are very impressed! Radiant wood heat is the healthiest, the best and cheapest since we have the wood on our property.

We also had so far 40 pizza parties with relatives and friends and everybody is enjoying our parties. I can highly recommend the work of Carl to anybody and wish him further success in the future. Keep up the good work!"

“After a long search for a European quality Kachelofen (without the tiles) we found Sidl Masonry Heating. Carl worked with us to plan the best location in our home for the masonry heater - and then he came in and set to work! It was fascinating to watch the heater get built over 7 days and a couple of days later to have the stucco layer added.

Since the heater was finished we have had it going - and 2 or 3 fires a day heats our home very comfortably. With the fire on (and for about 8-10 hours on), our furnace has not needed to be on - and that was our goal. Carl is extremely hard working and focused in construction mode, is very tidy (we lived in the space through the construction process) and is a real joy to have in our home. We are loving the warmth and the look of this efficient wood heater. Thank you Carl!”

"We could not be happier with the masonry heaters Carl built for us. From design to finished product it was a pleasant experience to deal with him. Very accommodating to any kind of requests and always pushing for the best customer experience. We witnessed the building of the heaters and can tell how much planning and thought went into the product.

Not sure what we enjoy more – the amazing looks of the finished heaters with the custom built concrete benches or the cozy heat radiating from the structure for hours on end after lighting a fire.

We’ll can highly recommend Carl and would hire him again without hesitation. By the way: the forged iron pans are a class of it’s own. Best hash browns ever!"

“We where looking for a while until we found Sidl Masonry for someone that could built us a wood fire oven the way we're use to, growing up in Europe.

For four winters now, we enjoyed our oven and the cozy heat it radiates. Once we had friends over for dinner, they wouldn't leave the bench in front of the oven anymore so we had to move the dinner table to the oven. We highly can recommend to invest in a 'Kachelofen' and if you do so, talk to Carl Sidl!”
